Speed-squabbles continue – Safari Vs Firefox

safarvsfirefox.pngWas it in my last post that I was shouting at the top of my voice that Safari 3.1 is the fastest loading browser of all? No it was earlier than that because I did blog saying the Firefox 3.0 Beta 5 is marginally faster. Now it seems Safari 3.1 is indeed faster then came the Firefox-retaliation saying the test should be done after disabling all extensions installed.

While the squabble continues on speed, most of us sitting happy with Safari 3.1 are enjoying the tabbed browsing, re-sizing and the light interface. I especially love the way the Safari messages you in a small window right on top and thereby not taking the plum spot on the page you were browsing. Try searching a word on your page and see it highlighted everywhere down the page.

If you are a Firefox user, you must have realized that while downloading, all the plug-ins you need are pulled from the Firefox as Apple uses the same format. However, if you are on Internet Explorer chances are that sites like YouTube will need to have Adobe Plug-ins installed for smooth browsing. I repeatedly get this problem with the Safari 3.1 on my Windows Vista system with Internet Explorer 7. Surely, Apple needs to look into this the next time they revamp the Safari 3.1 for Windows.

Are you still on Windows XP with Firefox? Write-in to me on how it was for you while downloading the Safari 3.1 for Windows. On the Vista I will give it an 8 out of 10 for smooth sailing!
