Toshiba NB100-11R: Toshiba takes on the Netbook Market
A stylish and robust machine, Toshiba NB100-11R offers the best mobile computing experience. It has a crystal clear 8.9 inch screen with an impressive list of features. An ultra-mobile laptop, perfect for educational use, it makes a great secondary laptop. Powered by an Intel Atom processor N270 (1.6), it has Linux Ubuntu 8.04 as its operating system. With 512 MB DDR RAM (667MHz), Toshiba NB100-11R is really small. It is only 225mm across and weighs about 1kg, which makes it extremely lightweight and compact. Easy to use and easy to carry from one place to another, the laptop has a 8.9 inch TruBrite VGA widescreen display with a resolution of 1024×600, that offer bright and vivid images. With High Brightness display, the screen offers a pleasurable visual experience that the user will certainly enjoy.
The Toshiba NB100-11R has chosen to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix, a new and specially developed version of the popular open source Linux operating system, which has been optimised in layout for the limited 1024×600 resolution. Other features are similar to net book like an Intel Atom processor, no optical drive, integrated video graphics, webcam in the lid and a couple of USB ports. The Toshiba NB100-11R has a 80GB 1.8inch hard disk drive, which offers sufficient space to store photos, videos, music, filed and other media. Though Toshiba NB100-11R includes Wi-Fi wireless in the form of 802.11b/g, it does not have a card reader and Bluetooth. This Ubuntu Net book Remix is sleek and usable and offers a truly mobile experience to the user. It comes pre-loaded with OpenOffice for office productivity, Mozilla Firefox for the web, Pidgin for universal IM, F-Spot for digital camera integration and much more.
