Apple rejects the Opera Mini for the iPhone
It is sad news for Opera fans. The Apple App Store has rejected the Opera Mini application developed by Opera engineers for the iPhone. It has been rejected on the grounds of duplicating functionality. Apple executives claim Opera Mini is similar to the Mobile Safari on the iPhone. The features of the Mobile Safari are simply fantastic.
Users of the iPhone can pinch-in/double click to zoom out and pinch-out/double click to zoom in,. Users can open upto eight tabs on their screen and can use as a Word/Excel document and PDF reader. The Mobile Safari is actually the fastest mobile browsers available in the market. Users feel that they should be provided the opportunity to try out other web browsers on their iPhone so they can have a totally new web browsing experience.
The Opera Mini web mobile browser is very popular and is already available on many smartphones, like the HTC P3450, but Apple simply would not allow it to be featured on its iPhone. The Opera Mini mobile web browser has the capacity to interpret codes and this is something Apple will not allow on its iPhone. The Opera Mini can be run on any operating system like Symbian, Windows Mobile and even low-end systems that run only Java-based applications.
Not only is it easy to install, it is also intuitive. That is what makes it a favorite contender as an alternative web browser for the Safari on the iPhone. While many users of the iPhone feel tat Apple should allow Opera Mini on the iPhone, Apple does not think so and has categorically rejected the proposal.

Full Screen Web Browser (FSWB) for the Apple iPhone
The Apple App Store is receiving more and more third party web browsers everyday. All the browsers have got a unique set of features. Some claim to be the most speedy web browsers, some boast of extra functions they offer to the user and some endorse simplicity at its best. The Full Screen Web Browser (FSWB) is the latest third party application released for the iPhone.
The speciality of FSWB is that it uses each and every pixel of the iPhone’s 480×320 display to display the web page. Of course, owners of the Apple iPod touch can also make full use of the browser’s capabilities. You may wonder that such full screen browsers have already been released but unlike them the FSWB does not sacrifices address bar and navigation bar. It displays the address bar and a translucent navigator at the bottom but these two options are automatically hide after few seconds. Shake your iPhone and the accelerometer will bring these two items again on the screen. The makers of FSWB claim that it increases the display area by 25 percent in portrait mode as compared to Safari browser. In landscape mode the viewable area extends by 40 percent that leverages web surfing.
Performance wise the FSWB is same as Apple Safari. This is because the Full Screen Web Browser is based on the safari’s WebKit engine. In order to incorporate stringent security parameters the history option is not included in FSWB. So you have to type full URL each time you visit a web page. You have to sacrifice tabbed browsing too if you wish to use FSWB.

LifeBook U820 by Fujitsu: Cross between a Smartphone and Netbook
LifeBook U820 is a robust portable computing device developed by Fujitsu exclusively for those who seek performance in a diminutive form factor. It’s a convertible notebook that packs cutting edge hardware for optimum speed and jaw dropping multimedia performance. The LifeBook U820 charges a little bit extra as compared to other devices but it’s really worth it.
Like many other mobile computers the LifeBook U820 is also powered by an Intel Atom Processor Z530, which is known for its awesome computing capabilities. The processor is paired with a 1GB of DDR2 RAM running at a speed of 533MHz. So obviously this little Lifebook is nowhere near the processing power of an ordinary laptop like the Fujitsu-Siemens LifeBook T5010. Nevertheless, for its size the U820’s processor power is very respectiable and more than enough for watching high definition movies, playing 3D games or multi-tasking with various applications open at once. The screen size of LifeBook U820 is 5.6 inches only. It’s a WXGA display that is touch enabled and can support resolution up to 1280×800 pixels. Storage options include one 120 GB Toshiba HDD @ 4200 RPM. There are plenty of connectivity options including USB, WiFi, Bluetooth and others, making this computer perfect for browsing with Safari on Windows.
The LifeBook U280 sits in between a smartphone and a netbook. The keypad is kept small to maintain the compact form factor. This is the only downside of this device but if you are comfortable enough to use a mobile phone then you can easily master the keypad of this LifeBook too.

Bolt: The Latest Rival of Apple Safari
Up until now we have seen Mozilla, Opera, Chrome and Internet Explorer competing with Apple Safari in the web browser market but now a new player named Bolt has also entered into the arena. Developed by Bitstream, the Bolt browser is aimed at offering fully fledged Internet browsing on low profile mobile phones. The beta version of Bolt is now available for download at boltbrowser.com.
Like Opera the Bistream has also got clusters of servers that are dedicated to fetch web pages and compress them into proprietary code so that they can be downloaded at the client side in no time, even if the phone’s processing speed is slow. According to Bitstream the compression used by them more intense as compared to the Opera’s compression and thus the Bolt’s operating speed is much better. The Bolt can be used on low-end mobile phones, not just high-end models like the HTC Touch HD, but does not sacrifices performance and functionality. It offers full Internet browsing experience and has got built-in streaming support for YouTube videos.
Bolt is based on Webkit, the same web engine that works behind Apple Safari but the Bolt introduces some unprecedented features like ‘split screen mode’. Apart from this the new browser has got all the standard functions such as favourites, history, RSS feeds, address bar, auto complete etc.

Intel Unveils the Second Version of its Classmate PC
Intel’s Classmate PC, the popular laptop that was made for school children, has recently been revamped by the company to give students exposure to modern technology and computing procedures. The company has now revealed the second version of Classmate named Classmate 2 that, like its predecessor, is a laptop but has something extra in its compact frame. The Classmate 2 has got a swivel display that can be rotated or folded on the keyboard to convert the device from laptop to a touch enabled tablet.
The convertible Classmate 2 can run on both Windows and Linux OS. This means that despite being an inexpensive netbook like PC, the Windows capable Classmate 2 can still run the Safari on Windows browser. It’s also based on Intel’s popular Atom chipset, just like the Asus Eee PC S101 and other popular netbooks, and carries an affordable price tag. Different companies are producing it under their brands in different countries. CTL and some other companies are producing the Classmate 2 in US, NEC is producing it in France, ASI in Australia, Hanvon in China and in UK it’s being produced by CMS.
Intel’s European vice-president, Gordon Graylish said, “We now have over 40 companies developing the original Classmate, nine companies have started building the convertible, and there are 30 companies in 40 countries developing software as part of the Intel Learning Series Alliance. It’s not about the device, it’s about supporting the local language, the local culture, and local manufacturers who understand how the education system works. It’s about getting the right software environment, and making sure teachers are trained. The last thing we want is computers sitting in closets.”

iBlueAngel: The Best Alternative to Safari on the iPhone
Up until now we have discussed about lots of third party web browsers for the Apple iPhone that have recently been offered a space in the App Store. iBlueAngel is also a third party web browser and it is considered the best of all. The iBlueAngel app is presented by Hung Duong and is considered as the most promising third party web browsers. Asan ambitious project for iPhone, the iBlueAngel hosts a variety of assorted features and a unique interface to access those features.
Besides basic web browsing the iBlueAngel allows the users to select and copy blocks of text on a website and then e-mail the same along with the URL using the iPhone’s e-mail application. If you paste the selected block of text in the address bar then the bar will expand and look like a Google search box. Then it will search the web for that text only. This is a very useful option practically. You can search for any phrase you come across during web surfing without loading Google.com in a new window. Unlike other third party browsers the iBlueAngel also supports offline view. Thus, you can save the web pages for viewing them even when your iPhone is not connected to the Internet.
The iBlueAngel can also handle variety of files including the PDFs, word documents, excel sheets, text files and PNG, JPG and GIF in images. All types of documents can be saved in the background mode without obstructing the browsing. Once all the data is downloaded and saved you can use the iBlueAngle’s Magic dashboard to quickly access all the stuff in offline mode. This programme also supports tabbed browsing, bookmarks, history, forward/backward option etc. It is the only third party web browser that has potential to replace Apple Safari in iPhones. Indeed, it is one of the most powerful third party browsers we have seen, and could potentially even replace the Windows Mobile web browser found in Windows Mobile phones like the HTC S740. Hung Duong has definitely been remarkably successful with this app, and we look forward to any new updates it undergoes.

Lock your iPhone Screen with the iBrowser
iBrowser is one of the third party web browsers for iPhone launched recently. As every third party iPhone browser features something special the iBrowser too claims to be a unique one. The special feature of this browser is that it allows the user to lock the screen orientation. This means that if you lock the screen in portrait mode then the orientation of the web page will not change even if you hold the Apple iPhone in landscape direction.
This is a very useful feature because most of the time it happens that even a slight change in the iPhone’s direction leads to change in the web site’s orientation. Normally this automatic screen directional change, found other smartphones like the T-Mobile G1 Google-phone or HTC models, is a major asset for users. However, web browsers that are sensitive to phone’s direction cause lots of trouble when the user is driving. The iBrowser can solve this issue and offer you irritation free web browsing. But like the other third party browsers the iBrowser too has its own limitations. It does not support multiple pages or tabbed browsing plus there is no support for bookmarks, history, emailing a link to a page, page zoom in and zoom out. Moreover you will not find any preferences for customising cookies and scripts.
If you can survive without these options then the iBrowser app is perhaps the best option. However, the Incognito and QuickSurf are still better than this because these two also support screen’s orientation locking technology and offer loads of extra features and capabilities.
