Safari sets new Precedents: rigorous ACID 3 Browser Test Passed

The Safari on Windows version claims to be best performing browser out there, and recent test results have only supported this case. The ACID 3 Browser Test is not a full measure of a browser’s capability, but instead places the browser under one very difficult scenario. The logic is that if the browser can handle the incredibly arduous test page, then it can likely take on any challenge. And the ACID 3 test is certainly a daunting challenge. In comparison to its predecessor, the ACID 2 test, the ACID 3 test is designed more to test how the browser processes the DOM and deals with Javascript.

Only Opera and Safari appear close to passing, as both Internet Explorer and Firefox have yet to even try, and are far behind by all accounts. Both the Mac and Windows build of the Safari 3 version succeeded in overcoming the test. Proving just how universal the Safari browser is, and adding more arguments to why the Safari on Windows browser might eventually dominate the market.
